I've never seen the programme(no TV) but I will have to have a snoop on catch-up in the morning.

yes, but most unsatisfying. Spent 3m for an unfinished shell, not even weatherproof, lost his family, has a house right next door he can't live in and STILL wants to continue
So will I. I'm intrigued now.
Sad. From the article it looks like he had the courage to try but not the knowledge to manage such a project. Seems naive. Might have thought his creditors would consider getting it done and sold since even spending a few more million is apparently likely to be realised on the sale.

I must say, looking at the video, it's got the potential to be wonderful. But he can't have been able to do his sums. How much did he think it would cost and how long was it supposed to take?

it was supposed to take 18 months and cost around 2m
mmm... I can believe time overruns, that goes wrong often enough, but the cost estimates must have been out by a country mile.
I wondered what that eyesore was that I could see last time I was on the beach. I`m surprised he and his contractors were allowed to get mining equipment and start defacing the cliffs. I heard that parts of it are currently flooded.
