I love all the science involved too Woofy. And I think Fiona is excellent, as is the other presenter who really knows his stuff. Wish there was more television of this quality.

I like it. I find it fascinating. But missed tonight unfortunately.
Yes I do. I enjoy it.
Fell asleep!
Yes I watch, some more intriguing than others.
I watch it when I mind it's on and seen it to-night. I mind on one programme about a painting that went before an expert committee in France. They decided it was fake and had it destroyed.
yes I do
taped tonights
quite enjoy it
one episode they fussed about this and that for 58 mins and the expert said at the end - o god sto wasting my time...
oo-er Bendor !
It’s the same old same old every week. Fiona was looking hot tonight tho.
the deleter
was that Miro ?
if you put it up to the ctee and they say 'non' you have to agree their decision

the ctee said non and so onto the pyre it went

there was another where they authenicated a piccy
because the arteest - Lucian Freud - wouldnt authenticate any of his pictures he disliked
and he had written in this diary " saw an earlier picture of mine which I said wasnt because it was awful" !!

Oh good, quite a few of us. I could have tonight's picture hanging in my flat. Reminded me of a Canaletto.
The work done by them to prove a fake or not is fascinating. Very clever.
You can have too much of a good thing, and Fiona Bruce.
I really enjoy the programs, love all the sciencey bits
My friend's husband was a psychiatric nurse and when he worked on the wards over night during a full moon he said that there were niggly problems all night with the patients. Nothing major happened but the full moon definitely affected some of them.
Sorry wrong thread

PP it was a "Chagall" painting.
If a painting is judged as a fake, do the owners have to agree to have it destroyed ?
Question Author
News to me if they do. Most say they will keep it and enjoy it, if they like it of course.
No, that was just a committee in France that decided that. I can't mind on whether it went to court or it was destroyed only on their say-so.

The programme establishes the evidence and then an expert is asked to give an opinion on the authenticity. For some painters there are recognised authorities and their word is final.

The Chagall destruction was extreme to put it mildly. Even copies may be worth thousands so I'd be a wee bit dis-chuffed if that had happened to one of mines.

I'm not if it's shown in sequence or no since it would make sense to test samples of the paint first to see if paint not available at the time had been used.
