Just spotted an answer here to a question from 2001. I didn't know AB was that old.
The reply though turns out to be just spam so will probably be removed. Shows the lengths spammers will go to.

Some people need a bit of time to consider what they're going to write down.

How anyone finds an ancient question to answer that has been dormant for 18 years is a puzzle
It's rather like archaeology, then!

Oh there are lots of "secret" little rooms that are off the radar of latest posts. Here's one example. I have more. This was tucked away in technology. Check the timeout on how long "redundant threads do not appear in latest posts, then look for big post numbers. This is a minor one.

I saw a spammer answer on an eight-year-old post once but this must be a record.

We (AB) really need to prevent the spammers from posting new threads. I suppose that the spammer is then a registered AB person and that will help to encourage people to use the site for advertising. It is all down to ££.

There are a few ‘secret rooms’ where some people chat without troubling Latest Posts. Kind of like a lock-in at your local pub.
