Oh, goody!
Hilarious in its day but far too dated now.
How do you know it's dated? It hasn't been written yet.
Don't speak too soon jd, let's see what they come up with:-)

Apparently it's to be set in the present day with him an ageing university lecturer.
Looking forward to it.
As it's your thread Naomi I digress for a moment to say - OMG, the end of Handmaids Tale last night!! Noooo!
Question Author
Noooo - in what way LB?
Question Author
ps. I haven't seen last night's episode yet.
Sorry I should have thought you might not have seen it yet. I'll say no more.
Question Author
Not 'noooo' in that you're bored with it then?
OMG NO. Just the opposite. When will you watch it?
I would hardly call it dated. Only if you're looking from the historical perspective of all the series. Each series had jokes relevant to the period they were portraying anyway. The actors will be dated, for sure, but I would welcome a new series. Blackadder Goes Forth was one of the best comedy series ever. No question.
Question Author
Yikes! I'll try to find time tonight!!! I'll get back to you.

The final scenes in that were unforgettable. Not funny - but unforgettable.
Yes I remember being shocked and touched by the final scenes. I would give a new series a chance but not optimistic.
Unforgettable, for sure. Tony Robinson said the producer wanted to film it again after the take that we see, but all the cast wanted it left as it was. So it was. And that is the ending we see now. I seem to re-call it was first broadcast quite near to Remembrance Sunday as well, which it gave it more resonance.

That final scene - unforgettable. It's a big ask to come up with another series so very good as the last one. But good luck to them.

An elderly university lecturer in today's world of university... the potential is endless. :o)
Just my thoughts, but I think if they did a new series, it would still be historically based. Maybe following on from the last series, one based in Colditz? The hindsight gives lots of opportunities for the writers.
