Not quite.

What happened was, the cast filmed the shot, they all went 'over the top' and finished the scene. The director wanted a re-shoot, but the cast said the pyrotechnics were too dangerous, and they refused, so the crew were left with the scene they didn't think good enough. In a moment of genius, it was decided simply to still the shot, and transfer into the field of poppies, leaving what I believe to one of the finest pieces of non-verbal television messaging that has ever been broadcast.

I really hope they do it, and agree the first series wasn't the best (written by Rowan Atkinson and Ben elton)
The rest were brilliant once Tony curtis took over.
As far as the final of the 4th series, I had read (by Richard curtis) that the scene ended up slightly too short, so they decided to play it in slow motion with a still at the end. A perfect ending.

Yep :-). I'm sure you all know the story about Richard Curtis's wife having an affair/ running off with a man called Bernard. And ever since, Richard Curtis has written a "Bernard" into all his films who is a bit of a *** x
