Starts today with England as favourites (so they obviously have no chance at all).

Live on Sky and TMS - but terrestrial highlights eventually confirmed as being on C4 - albeit around 11pm or midnight.

First match is Eng v SA - spoliers will follow ...

England batting - nice start but then a clatter of wickets - currently 152-3 after 26 overs

The score/info bar on Sky is ridiculous - huge and distracting- can barely see the cricket behind it.
As the great Ron Burgundy said "More graphics!"
Can't stop now............... too busy watching paint dry.
this is not the "cricket" world cup, a game of cricket cannot be played in a single day.
I was watching it. Disappointed to see a wicket go in the first over. Not too great a run rate.
Just about to catch up on the current score.

Just about a 'par' score for England - given the batsman-friendly conditions that seem to be the norm these days.

Saffers in a bit of bother - Amla off hurt and two wickets down - but de Kock looking threatening.
"....this is not the "cricket" world cup, a game of cricket cannot be played in a single day."

I quite agree, 3Ts.

Limited over "cricket" should be renamed to something else that does not lead people to believe it bears any resemblance to cricket (apart from being played on roughly the same sort of field). "Slogg 'n run" or "Boundaries" might be more appropriate.

Mind you, I can see the problem. As I understand it the so-called Cricket World Cup involves some 48 matches and playing each of them over four or five days might take the competition into next January (unless they play at places like Beckenham). However, I have a solution. With ten teams involved the trophy can be decided by just nine matches (a preliminary round involving just four teams to reduce them to two, then 4 quarter-finals, 2 semi-finals and a final). Plenty of time to play all the matches over five days.

Can't wait for England vs Afghanistan !!!

I agree about the unsatisfactory nature of Pyjama Cricket (perhaps I should patent the name) - and also about the bloated nature of the tournament - but it's still better than the 'Diving Hairdressers' of the Premier League ...
Indeed judge but why does cricket need a "world cup" anyway? There are only 12 nations, who actually play the sport internationally.
SD: " given the batsman-friendly " - the entire game is batsman friendly, it's like playing the soccer world cup with no goal keepers. I know it's entertainment and all that but I wish they'd call it something other than cricket.
"...Pyjama Cricket (perhaps I should patent the name)"

No, no, Dave. "Cricket" must not appear in the name. What about "The Pyjama Game"?

"There are only 12 nations, who actually play the sport internationally."

Yes.Not quite so bad as the USA's "World Series" though !

Yes Dave, even in its bastardised form, infinitely preferable to Fitba. A tedious game with an unusually high preponderance of cheats among its participants.

It's gone too far, I agree TTT - but the twits at the ICC seem to think that only 6-fest-slogathons will bring in the punters.

Never mind, The Ashes are only 9 weeks away :+)
Perhaps a more apt name would be "Snobs be gone" cricket.

Anyway, England get off to a great start :)
Cricket is corrupt and everyone knows it.
