This is the doctor who ask a mother to lift her veil so he could hear clearly what she was telling him about her child's symptoms. I believe it is her husband who is complaining, not his wife.
Will you sign please?

I will. There are three questionable incidents being discussed on these pages at the moment; two about this case, one about a church willing to cover up crosses and Christian works of art to avoid upsetting Muslim guests – and to offer them segregated space - and one where the Muslim Defence League has thrown missiles at supporters of a man standing for election as an MEP – and in each case the apologists, for whom Muslims can do no wrong, are out in force. Rational? I think not.
/// I believe it is her husband who is complaining, not his wife. ///

Would it had been any different had it been his wife that was complaining?

After all it was her who refused to lift her veil.
I’ve signed it.
signed
AOG, she removed her veil without any complaint.
/AOG, she removed her veil without any complaint. //

The complaint came later. It doesn't really matter who is complaining. The fact is a doctor with 23 years experience is in danger of having his career ruined - and for what? Someone's religious/political foibles? Trouble-makers.
It is for that very reason that I signed. The woman, we have been told, removed her veil willingly, it was the husband who complained. It suggests he was more concerned about that than making sure his daughter received the best treatment.
I think some of this may be a bit previous.Apparently he is only under investigation over allegations of racial discrimination and has not been suspended or given conditions. If he is suspended or worse then I would sign but perhaps until then we should " keep our powder dry." I certainly hope common sense prevails and he is able to find work but I fear he may not.
No, grumpy. We shouldn't keep our powder dry. We should start saying 'No' and demanding that, as you put it, common sense prevails. This doctor should never be in this situation.
Grumpy// has not been suspended or given conditions.//
True, but he is a locum doctor and ,as he has said, nobody will employ him while he is being investigated by the GMC.
Will the GMC continue its investigations if the GP resigns? If no, the petition will not be successful.
The petition states "To reconsider firing Dr Wolverson" I was saying that as he is only being investigated this could all be jumping the gun I certainly hope so.
The GMC hasn't made any comment about this let alone fired this doctor...surely they should be left to make a decision and publish it before petitions are written...I have no doubt that he will receive no punishment...the Mail will, however, be gleeful about stirring up a hornets nest as it seems to like doing.... I would not be surprised to find that there was never a suggestion by the GMC that he would be fired.
I won't sign because it seems to me that the facts of the petition are in question.
To add though, it does seem to me though that a year is rather a long time for this to be dragging on.
The preamble is headed "Stop Dr Wolverson getting fired" and it goes on to say, "After refusing to remove her Niqab, Dr Wolverson ended the consultation. "

She removed her veil and the consultation was not ended. How many will read the link to the article?
Corby, only those without an axe to grind.
//the Mail will, however, be gleeful about stirring up a hornets nest as it seems to like doing//

Good for the Mail! I repeat, this doctor should never be in this situation.
WOOF, it may be that in the letter notifying him of the investigation, the possibility of being "struck off" was stated. I also agree that the delay is not acceptable, regardless of the outcome.
