A complete and utter waste but hey, it'll get a face on the telly and they're seen to be doing something.

No doubt they're 'committed' to doing something about something and keeping the public safe.
It'll get some graduate or other on the local news, that's what matters.

Pathetic isn't it.
Well, you know what happens when people are allowed to share wrong jokes on the internet, don't you?
This brilliant tweet summed it up for me.

//Even if Danny Baker didn't see the image as being racist, the fact that my own mind immediately saw a monkey and thought of black people made it a racist tweet. I am so relieved that the BBC did the right thing and sacked him for what happened in my own mind when I saw the tweet.//

I have never looked at a monkey (actually an ape in this case) and made a connection with black people...perhaps, just perhaps neither has Danny Baker.
Waste of time, go and nick some villains.
It was a racist slur againt The Royal Household,so yes, he should be questioned.
The argument against Baker points out he does have previous.

It’s a very crazy country England? Don’t you think ?
Aye tis that, anne.

OTT, he lost his job leave it at that
Talbot, the reason you don’t make connections with black people and primates is because you’re probably not racist, but don’t let that put a haze in-front of your eyes, racists are alive at large.
It was racist and it happened on social media by a person in the public eye, so what investigating do they need to do and why do they need specialist officers to do it?

Sorry, I don't know how this works so just asking.
I agree, what is there to investigate? Millions of people found it very racist so.. it was racist end of case
He got what he deserved, the numpty that he was given his role in the Beeb. Is it a crime? Now that's OTT and an example of just how paranoic, perhaps even self-centred Brit folk at large are becoming.
There’s been an allegation made. Would you rather the police not follow this up?
possible hate crime, I expect, tiggs. I imagine they'll decide it wasn't, but it's always best to look into something before deciding it's nothing.

Meanwhile kids playing football will go on hearing monkey chants, but not from celebs so they won't be investigated

they should investigate whoever made the allegation.....
for wasting police time...and specialist time at that.
Yes they received a complaint which has to be followed up like it or not.
I can’t see anything coming of it though.
Well I won't be happy until he's been dragged through the streets in rags, his house demolished, assets confiscated and he's living under a bridge with John Virgo, surviving on a diet of half eaten burgers and cider.

Then it can be seen to be resolved.
