I was looking forward to it as well seems format not the same somehow
About as funny as paying my rent!
I've never found that Alan Partridge character funny.
it's rubbish
Alan Partridge is a loathsome character. I don't find him funny at all but I do respect Steve Coogan for portraying him.
Love Alan Partridge.. character but a little disappointed. Not quite the same.
Rubbish IMO
Very disappointed and I really liked the early series. I think this one isn't working because we see him out of any context apart from his assistant - whereas before we saw where he lived - his "friends" and felt we knew something of his life. This parachuting him into a TV show is just embarrassing.
I think it is very difficult to find a really good format for Partridge to exhibit the myriad and depthless horribleness of his nature, but I think this one is good, because it will sustain over the length of the series.

His co-star Susannah Fielding has grasped her part to perfection - she is every bit as shallow and odious as Alan, but far better at covering it up - she controls where he simply speaks his brains.

It can't be as good as the earlier work, that was too strong to improve, but I think there is a lot more potential yet for Alan to snatch ignominy from the jaws of national fame - again.
I enjoyed the first episode of this series, but found the second one quite boring with the battle re-enactment scene.
I’ll carry on watching.

have never found him the slightest bit funny, so haven't even looked at it.
"This parachuting him into a TV show is just embarrassing."

I'm not sure if you get the point of it or miss by a mile.
Enjoyed both episodes. True, not as funny as when he was doing his radio show and living in the hotel but i think that's because it's confined to the tv studio. Still a few little gems in there, though, and maybe even more when he is given the job full time.
Tilly - // Alan Partridge is a loathsome character. //

That is rather the point of him!!
I watched the first of the series and thought that it's all a bit "samey"...yes, we know what he's like and have a good idea of what he's about to say/do....so you're just waiting for the next faux pas.
Don't like this new series at all, maybe time for AP to be finally put to bed. He was much funnier some years back.
Saw one episode another was enough! Embarrassingly bad.
