Did anyone see this on channel 4 last night? It was interesting but what I found annoying was the fact that their weight and height was given in kilograms and centimetres. There wasnt even
an imperial equivalent. I found it meaningless. When anyone discusses their weight and height, it's given in stones and pounds and feet and inches. They are as bad as the BBC, obsessed with metric measurements.

I always give kg/cm. I find metric far more intuitive.
The continental system of gauging the amount of fuel a car uses in litres per 100 kilometres simply isn't as clear or precise as m.p.g. I find.
So Dave, did you learn anything from the program apart from the measurements?
The slim women were always on the go, ate slowly and never ate all of the food., a lot of it ended up in the bin, the same with even a packet of crisps. I noticed a distinct lack of fresh fruit and vegetables, particularly with one of the women.
I agree Khandro, I just can't visualise litres per 100km but if someone says 25mpg I know instantly how bad/good that is.
9.4L per 100km apparently!
Oddly enough I bought a jam jar at the week end and the bloke had the Temp set to F! now I sort of know how hot/cold that is but I mentally converted to C decades ago.
I didn't see the programme but have had a little read up on it and I agree GM, it appears that certainly one lady despite eating chocolate three times a day only consumed the same amount of calories she burned off.

Also there did seem a clear connection with eating slowly too.
Ok this is a funny, (but could have been fatal story)
With husbands chemo the height / weight / dosage ratio is essential. Not only to kill the Acute Myeloid Leukaemia cells (blasts) but to not kill the patient.

Nurse measured him said he's 17.6cm...husband said Im not oompah loompah! Oh she said okay you are 17.6 foot! No said husb Im not a giant!

This went back and forth until eventually we said he is 167cm which is approx 5.8 foot which is 1.76 metres.

We laugh now but really that was a qualified nurse performing a calculation that could essentially have led to lethal dose of chemo!

Scary
typo 176 cm
Could you not have just 'googled' the conversion - I did!
What?

Miss a chance to have a go at C4 and throw in the BBC for good measure , not Dave's style Jeni ;-)

I never watch telly without my calculator.

The program didnt really focus on anyone actually eating large quantities of unhealthy food which was a bit disappointing. I thought the single mother was very wasteful throwing all that food away every day.
