Just seen that the 1971 film "Villain" is being shown on Talking Pictures.

Little known film starring a VE favourite. Superb performance as an East End criminal gang leader. Wonder if I'll enjoy it as much at my age as I did in my twenties.

Film's on at 11.00 by the way.
The critics were sniffy about it .The film were Ian Mcshane got bummed by Burton - and also in the overhyped Sexy Beast (they seemed to have trimmed the scene in Villain).Vic Dakins mom's house is just around the corner from where comedian Jack Dee lives

Loved Sexy Beat. Don't you think Ben Kingsley was excellent, Tali?
Sexy Beat ? :) Maybe i need to watch it again , but i thought it was steaming pile of dung
it's on Monday at 11pm too, talking pictures (sky 328)
I remember seeing at the pics, it's homosexual and violent sexual content was considered very daring back then.

I always think it's really hard to explain to people under thirty just how ground breaking some cultural events were - especially in films and television.

The best TV manages to do is utterly pointless programmes like "It Was Alright In The 70's" where they show clips of Love Thy Neighbour to aghast twenty-something comedians I have never heard of.
Sexy Beast was amazing; Kingsley was wonderful keeping Ray Winstone in line with nothing more than his voice. But I never liked Villain.
