No problems until recently, Sat Nav tells me to go completely the wrong way to a destination, literally when I am in the correct destination it tells me to do a U turn. Mercedes want £200 just to look at it without repair price. Is this a common problem, would a normal garage be able to repair or configure this??

Sat navs can do strange things. I'd suspect a bug in the latest code, and not pay anything unless it proves consistently in error.

Not uncommonly I get directed to a road nearby the store I'm trying to find, and told I'm at my destination. Common sense is needed, treat them as advice only.
Ignore the Sat Nav and buy a map - much cheaper and works for me every time.
I didn't know you could buy maps that warned you about traffic jams and diversions. Are they expensive?

Thanks all, I will use google sat nav on my phone but it doesn't seem to repeat directions, only says it once. Is there a way round this??
Are u sure you’ve not set it to ‘shortest route’ or ‘avoid X(a certain type of road)’?
How old is your Merc? My Volvo is 10 years old and I have to pay for map/software upgrades. I seem to remember when I looked at Mercedes they said the new maps/software could be downloaded from the internet and loaded into the car via a memory card. If your Merc is reasonably young it could be that such upgrades are free, as they are with many newer vehicles. It's worth looking into as a software upgrade/refresh might cure your problem.
As another thought, my Volvo has a blind spot to a particular journey; asking it to plot a route from Paris to the Loire Valley it wanted to take me to the north coast of France, then along a bit and finally down. I had to insert Chartres as a waypoint to get it to choose a sensible route. If you are just having trouble with one particular trip try altering it a bit.

Bug the car is 2011 and it has done this for the last two journeys. Sorry we are not very technical to do downloads but maybe the car is too old anyway ... Zac if you are talking about setting the car's sat nav it takes us on a far longer route.

Sorry bhg not bug ...
If not already done so, check any/all settings are correct for things like use/avoid:- motorways, ferries, crossings, tolls.
Flown my none technical idea would initially force a reboot by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes - you will then need to reset clock aswell.
Alternatively look for an independent auto electrician in your area - will be a lot cheaper than main dealership.
Answer meant for Flon Blxxdy auto correct
Before you disconnect the battery - make sure that you know the radio code - if it has one. You may need to input that too!
Great advice Flon
Not had to do it on a Merc but similar for most manufacturers.
