For what this ad. cost to make, not to mention what John Lewis had to pay ITV to replace theme music of Coronation Street and Emmerdale with a piano solo and whatever they had to pay Elton John, can it really
persuade anybody to shop at John Lewis?

Don't forget the loss of the sales of the plush toys that usually star in their Christmas ads. Their not selling stuffed Eltons sat at a piano.
