And Toorak
Check to make sure Tony - it’s a film rather than tv programme

Will do, Toorak.

Just checked. It is, on BBC IPlayer.
Stunning Chrissa. The times were indeed grim. Our only duty is to remember. Brilliant editing of events and narrative. Masterpiece of reflective hindsight.
Nothing I've seen has conveyed the horror of WWI as this film did.
I used to wonder why returning squaddies never talked about it - now I know.
I agree Togo and 4candles. It is a stunning and eyeopening film and ought to be shown to the younger generation if they can be drawn away from their gadgets and gaming!

I suppose the news coverage of it at the time was not allowed to be reported in all its gory detail.

What the eye doesn’t see etc, etc.

Why it took the “donkeys” so long to do something about it, has puzzled me over the years.

Madness.
Perhaps J Corbyn Esq. should have been given a preview....
on iPlayer for just a week, I think. The film made no mention of donkeys, of generals, of politicians.
