I like to watch university challenge and if I get more than two correct answers I am quite satisfied.
However I have tried to get into only connect but only ever managed to get an average of one correct per show ( excluding the last two rounds )
is this quiz just very difficult or is my mind just not on their train of thinking?
anyone else think it too difficult to be entertaining ?
Try watching with a pause button available - stop the show after two or three of each of the clues in the first rounds and see if a moment's thought can get you somewhere near. Similarly, pause 'the wall' as soon as it starts and have a good think.
I also think it's a programme which is improved by having a couple of peole watching together and bouncing ideas around.
yes i do like Victoria and her jokes are absolutely terrible and often badly timed punch lines
i also like Rachel Riley but have stopped watching countdown as its on too early and 8 out of ten cats is ***
I love OC, and can also usually get about one answer per early round. I'm better on the Missing Vowels round. It is still entertaining.
I find UC rather boring nowadays - not because I know all the answers of course - but it's just a stream of questions, a bit like 15 to 1 but harder.
I really like OC and watch with OH and son to form a team, usually manage to get a few between us, and manage to catch a few extra points on the wall and the last round.
Cloverjo; "I always wonder why on earth is Susie Dent doing this?" Erm, wads of dosh, perchance? And i don't really understand why you singled out Susie Dent when Rachel Riley also does both.
I love both quizzes. I usually get quite a few correct on UC - c.10 on average. OC is very hard - but such a good workout! I can usually get 2 or 3, more if I'm fast enough on the missing letters round, but some of the walls lately have completely baffled both of us. If you keep watching, you'll click into the way of things, it's a sort of cryptic crossword way of thinking, really. You can get onto the OC site and have a go at walls to practice. :)
thank you all for your answers
I am more at ease knowing that I have now got to be it the cryptic crossword mindset.
I used to love the Today newspaper cryptic as it was new and challenging and I could keep up as we all started on a level field and none of us had bee doing guardian/telegraph/times and got to know the compilers wave of thought. so I will persevere with oc until I get it
I love it even though I don't do very well except for the missing words rounds. It's their knowledge of some of the most obscure facts which impresses me. Keep watching, I'm sure you will come to be an addict like me one day!
I love UC and yes am thrilled if I do well, struggle a bit with OC and part of that is the more visual nature and how they do the camera shots. By the time I've read the clue it's been answered, still enjoy watching it.
