Miriam Margolyes was touring America seeking out racism and discrimination and yet I feel she negated her efforts by labeling herself as a Jewish lesbian. I don't go around telling everyone I'm a heterosexual atheist.

Meeting them as a little nice English pensioner won't get a reaction, will it?

... and as for farting before she went to see a family and then actually telling them what she'd done ......
What a fabulous series this was, last night was a superb programme.

To have been an anonymous visitor would have negated what the show was about.
She has a problem with wind :-D

I love her.
She is probably the most honest person I have ever come across, and one of the most empathetic.
She is crass and crude but readily admits when she has been wrong and sees the good in people.

I think she's great.
Deliciously eccentric and at times jaw droppingly unconventional.
She just has a passion in her face.

I watched The Real Marigold Hotel just because she was in it. She's very caring, very passionate and very amusing.
//She is crass and crude //

That's why I don't like her.
She's an embarrassment to this country. Revolting specimen.
'Deliciously eccentric' - a euphemism for barking mad!
The crass and crude part of her is obviously her Australian side, the good bits her English.

:D
Use your own euphoniums Mick, leave mine alone :-)

i'm with you, too crass to be funny !
Hang on, let's put that "labelling herself" into context, shall we?

Pastor Mike Hallimore, leader of the Kingdom Identity Ministries, agreed to a meeting with a couple of members of the production team that were of - per the email he sent them - acceptable religious/racial/ethnic backgrounds (my words, but that's the gist of it).

Miriam, in the car on the way to the hotel where the meeting took place - "He doesn't like Jews - he thinks that we are Satanic - and... so he wouldn't meet me."

Waiting for him to arrive - "I do feel nervous, I feel upset. I mean, I read one of the pieces of literature that they put out, and they want to kill Jews. And not just Jews, but homosexuals. I'm a homosexual and I'm a Jew."

IMO, she was perfectly justified in explaining why the hard-of-thinking Pastor wouldn't meet her personally.

Across the 3 programmes, she showed herself to be an intelligent, compassionate, witty, forthright, down-to-earth person who wanted - and was willing to - learn.

I think it was a brilliant little series & she was marvellous throughout.
If I see that she is in any programme I don't watch it.
^ Same here.
She's fantastic.....funny, caring and self deprecating.....a perfect combination...
Loved this series and if those who like her get the chance to see a one woman show, do......a wonderful night....x
Saw her with John Bishop and on Graham Norton, both times we were laughing out loud she is so outrageous. I'm
