No further explanation needed really - Emmerdale, Corrie, Eastenders all with very violent scenes over the past couple of weeks - really not enjoying watching them. Horrible for families with young kids too. Much prefer the lighthearted storylines.

Emily Bishop’s husband was shot in 1978.
I was going to post a similar thread myself. 3 of my Grand kids were staying here when my wife put EE on. They were all scared to go to bed in case the 'Nasty man' tried to kill them.
I don't see why that level of violence is allowed so early in the evening. It should be rescheduled, what happened to the 'watershed'?
Trying to emulate real life?
here is said Ernest Bishop meeting his maker in 1978.

quite sensitively handled. by comparison, if that scene were to be filmed today, the contents of his head would be shown plastered all over the wall behind his grotesquely contorted remains.
it's a shame they have taken some of the humour out of corrie mary ,Norris ,steve were amusing .brians humour leaves me cold ,they do concentrate on violence more now.

Even Ernie Bishop's shooting was 'accidental' (due to Mike Baldwin showing up) - these days they would have shot him too or used the end of the rifle to knock him out and shown the robbers being downright violent instead of the bungled robbery. Just don't think it leaves anything to the imagination.
I'd rather soaps didn't mirror real lives to this extent. No need for such graphic scenes at all. Only watched Corrie because I think it was the soap with a balanced mix of drama and humour. It's changed completely and it needs sorting!
Stopped watching Emmerdale many years ago could believe in a small village there would be so many affairs. Stopped watching Corrie when the plot about Phelan got so ridiculous it used to be quite humourous but not now and then Eastenders so depressing. I can honestly say dont miss any of them.
I am really disappointed with all the violence in Corrie. There is no need for it and now it is no longer a family soap.
