Did ABers watch prog discussion about whether ball heading can cause Dementia & what is your opinion ? I think that we should not wait for research to prove the evidence, the mere suspicion should impel The F A to ban it now. The game is after all called FOOTball & should only be played with the feet.

No sheep were harmed, I think you mean Alan Shearer.
Would it make it pointless giving corner kicks as the object is to land the ball to be headed.

I feel it would be more advantageous to ban boxing where the sole intention of two people is to inflict as much physical injury as they can, and the main target is the head.
^^^^ But that's not the point in question.

Totally agree 10CS - some former boxers are not a pretty sight.
I'm not a sportsperson, and while I don't think heading an occasional ball would cause dementia it can't be great for a player's brain.

As others have said, boxing is more of a worry. I can't bear to see two huge men trying to bash each other's brains out. I quite like Olympic boxing, though, where they wear head protection.
In the UK 61% of people with dementia are female and 39% are male.

?
Ron...I heard Shearing on the radio. I thought he made a lot of sense. The old footballs were nothing like the ones we use now. But to stop heading would take a world-wide campaign, and I can't see it happening any time soon.
The most dangerous "sport" in the UK?

Fishing!

More people die each year in the UK while fishing than in any other sport / hobby.

This is of course mostly people washed off rocks while fishing at sea, or who are out in small fishing boats and the boat capsizes / sinks etc.

Shall we ban fishing?
perlease!

Very good...
have a day off ron any sport has dangers.
I didn't watch the programme perhaps I should have done.
Alan Shearer, ex England captain, still holds the Premier League goal scoring record. Has never been convicted of any sheep worrying offences.
