Can I get from Whitechapel Station (London) to Dalston Junction by London Overground ?

The Overground map says yes - but TFL routefinders say no.

Tel underground is under going engineering work today. Try again tomorrow.
^^^^TFL Underground.
The TfL routefinder will give a route within Zone 2. Going direct passes through Shoreditch High Street which is in Zone 1, and a higher fare applies.
Yes, there is engineering work on this stretch of Overground until 1st April. So the direct journey will be possible. My point remains, a ticket valid for Zone 1 will be required.

Thanks JJ, but I've got a Freedom Pass so is it simply a direct Overground journey for me next week ?
You can normally (4 stops) but there is a rail replacement bus service over this weekend.
I don't quite understand your point about the routefinder, Jonathon.

As far as I know it makes no such adjustments for a journey which passes through Zone 1. Also, as far as I know, there is no opportunity to adjust a journey to include or omit any particular zones.

Try derekpara's journey after April 1st and you will see it provides a direct journey via the Overground. Are you suggesting that if I wanted to travel from, say, East Acton to Bethnal Green it would provide a route other than direct by the Central Line in order to avoid zone 1?

Thanks NJ. I will leave my journey until after 1st April.
