although quite why villa want someone whose managerial career has been thus far a little less than star-lit, and who turned newcastle down as being "not arty enough" is beyond my understanding.

There'll be many more rumours linking past and present managers yet imo, mushroom.
On the radio they suggested Brendan Foster, Nigel Pearson or some French guy I have never heard of.

On a serious note Lambert and Sherwood were both on a hiding to nothing given the seriously average players (Benteke excepted) that the Villa hierarchy have recruited over the past few years.

Even Mourinho would struggle to get the current Villa squad clear of the relegation zone
