I watched and observed the minutes silence while watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned down I was quite frankly taken a back with the number of people both in Tunisia and in the UK taking selfies on their phones during the 1 minute silence is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute??

I saw someone (on the footage taken in Sousse) who was taking a photo during the silence. Is that the person you are referring to? It wasn`t possible to see if he was taking a picture or a selfie. Shame he couldn`t have put the camera down for a minute and just observed the silence. I guess he`ll be including the photo in his holiday shots!

///watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned///

Did the BBC News not observe the silence then, oh, you wouldn't know would you with the sound turned down!
I was quite frankly taken aback by the number of people watching it live on TV - is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute.

One man's meat is another man's poison.

// ...is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute?? //

You were using your television.
I never have the TV on in the daytime, I used my computer clock to observe the time.

I am dismayed that any TV station would give these people the publicity they crave by showing them taking selfies.
Irrespective of whether it's disrespectful or not, it's pretty stupid. I suppose there's a load of photos now on twitbook of sombre looking people with the caption 'me observing a minutes silence in Lidl' or whatever.
If it wasn't so lame it'd actually be funny.

Mobile phone?

Watch / Clock ?
well how about this one for thoughtlessness - you would have thought an aspiring politician would know better.

You really need an answer dim b u m !
Big difference between a TV and taking a selfie.

But then again the usual suspects ignore that.
Oh has that come and gone ?
Odd thing to want to do anyway. But I'm normally silent all day, except when I'm muttering to myself about the world and how awful things are.
Were they taking selfies or just recording the event? Were the TV cameras actually in Tunisia at 1200?
such insults as have started on here do not convey the perpetrators in a good light when it comes to the topic of the thread....

Big ben is more accurate than my watch computer clock, clocks in the house or anything else I wanted to go by that. But I think it was the height of ignorance for people to take selfies during the silence
Perhaps the Tv companies could consider posting an image - a field of flowers maybe instead of people, who are by nature unpredictable.

It is a silent action so it complies with the silence. I saw people driving during that minute, were they being ignorant?
Well Gordie, sorry my answers weren't intelligent - I know where I stand now.
