I've not watched it back yet, but it looked to me like that dog had a false snout on it, the mouth of which was presumably operated by remote control. When the dog walked off, in profile I'm sure the snout looked unusually long. If I'm right, that's not talent, it's cruelty. What did you think?

Many years ago on That's Life there was a chap who, by manipulating his dog's thrat, could make it say 'sausages'.
I am sure many would say that all animals involved in performances are subject to cruelty of some form - I think it depends on the everyday life of the animal.

If indeed a false snout was fitted one wouldhopeit wasneither painful or restrictive to respiration.

It was quite amusing as an act.
Obviously a false gob...not sure it is cruel though.
^ throat
I hope it could pant naturally ok...it looked like it was breathing really heavy..
Much as I dislike Simon Cowell, I do know that he is a huge animal lover and would not allow any cruel acts on his show.
I must admit I grew up having lots of dogs and we had ours doing all sorts of tricks and japes - they were all loved and cosseted too.
Hated it. Hope he doesn't get through. Poor little dog, should be at home in front of the fire or running round the garden, not being bayed at by a moronic audience !
I hate everything about these "talent" shows. Talentless no-marks after their fifteen minutes of fame. I wouldn't watch if you paid me. I looked at the YouTube clip of the dog act, and thought it was wrong. Not entertaining at all IMO.

The act did get put straight thru to the next round. How could Cowell and Holden, who both claim to be dog lovers, not see what was really happening from their front row seats and object strongly?
Because of this act meryl, I won't be watching any more, the poor little thing will obviously get through to the final and another baying audience. I don't understand Cowell, not a true dog lover in my eyes.
Is the chap controlling the snout with his left foot through the pedestal? Seems to move his leg and foot in time with the movement of the dog's mouth......

I'd be concerned that the dog couldn't pant.....and I don't think I saw it's tongue move??
The dog didn't look in any way unhappy or distressed, although I am not entirely OK with this sort of thing.

I thought the Yorkie that kept having a go at Ant/Dec should have won !
( sorry, can never tell them apart ! )
No different to putting a muzzle on a dog, which is probably how it got used to it.

Not cruel, and mildly entertaining I thought.
Heres Max the Yorkie.

Considering the real cruelty to dogs that is carried out on a daily basis, I think to describe this act as 'cruelty' is a bit of an overreaction. I thought the French guy incredibly creepy and the dog just didn't look right -his muzzle was too long. It is ,of course, a fake muzzle, but probably large enough that the dog can breath normally underneath it. I'm sure the producers will check out what is going on before letting him perform any further.
Tony...thanks for that ! I especially liked Max's Power Slide !

That Max has certainly got attitude !.
> sorry, can never tell them apart

On screen, Ant is always on the left and Dec is always on the right, so that from left to right on your screen they are always Ant and Dec, which is also alphabetic order. That's always - not just in Tony's clip above.
