Jeremy played Baker Street today, and as he back-announced it, he said "Baker Street, with Bob Holness on saxophone ..."

I think these days more people know it's false than think it's true, so maybe he had tongue in cheek
It was probably a double bluff.
He also said Elvis sang a song he played today, and I'm sure he didn't
It could've been worse I suppose. He could've said Bob Hoskins.

Oh without a doubt - it was a knowing smirk for the loads of people who know that it's an urban myth - copyright Stuart Maconie!
It could just be Mr Vine doing what he's built a fair proportion of his radio career on, wilfully misunderstanding what's presented to him.
1) When I heard him say 'Bob Holness', you could tell he was saying it 'jokingly'.

2) Regarding the Elvis comment...it was Elvis... Elvis Costello.
