Spiral Series 5

Series 5 of the fabulous French crime drama Spiral (Engrenages) starts on BBC4 Saturday 10th January-9pm.
Just for those who appreciate true class drama. I know there are some of you out there.

I haven't watched this before - or any other French series, for that matter - but we do like Montalbano (Italian) and loved the Bridge (Scandinavian).

Have we missed much if we didn't see series 1-4?

I would say that it falls nearer to The Bridge that Montalbano (personally I love both too) It is very 'gritty' and hard hitting. Each series is a story in itself but the characters have been in it from the first. You may be confused therefore, then again you may not. Give it a try-you may like it.

Is it repeated on BBC4, as if I watch it on Iplayer, or catch up there is no sub-titles?
