In tonight's Pointless head to head the two couples were shown photographs of buildings in the course of construction and had to say what buildings they were. One couple mistook the construction of the Washington Monument for the Leaning Tower of Pisa. As construction for the Leaning Tower started in the 12 century and photography started in the 19 century I can only assume that they thought it took a very long time to get the angle right.

I didn't watch it .... but I can imagine me spitting my brew out, all over the place, if I had actually watched it :)

Gosh Mike, what a super observation!
It must be hard to answer under the pressure though.
I've always wanted to go on Countdown but I'm scared I'll forget every word I know when I get there.

Aww that's nice Jo. Thank you.
Fancy teaching me maths? ;)
Slightly unfair criticism as it could well have been a photograph of a hand-drawn design. I have seen photos of Da Vinci's designs.

Make your own mind up, Blackadder...

The same woman said the CN Tower in Toronto was the Empire State Building. Shambolic.
As I remember there were no windows in the tower either and I think the LT of P had some. Guess it was a mildly amusing howler but I'd be none too rational up there myself either.
Thank you for your input. I did not see the programme, but confess that is because I still have something of a life left.
...if ever a programme was aptly named, that has to be it!
