I wish ITV would put a shilling in the electricity meter when filming "The Suspicions of Mr Whicher" so we can actually see the action. I had to turn up the brilliance before I could see anyone move.

At one point in the story one character actually said "Get some light on the place". He couldn't see anything either!

I have read the book but not seen the TV programme. The book was a bit dark as well.
I was going to say that I saw it.... but I couldn't see it because it was so dark.
It really is a shame that all the work (and money) that goes into a production such as this is spoilt because of the lighting
0kay, it depicts the darkness of the Victorian age, but what's the point when it is almost invisible
I think the Makers would say it's supposed to add 'atmosphere' and depict the 'darkness' of the Victorian age - but it seems to have been overdone - I also wondered if Whicher himself ever had a shave and whether he ever took that scruffy overcoat off!
