About a month ago I thought I saw a mouse in my living/bedroom.No one believed me and just thought I was stressed and seeing things.I was beginning to believe them, even though I thought I could hear something 'skitting' around every time the water was heated, but there was no evidence. No poo,no chewed stuff, and no mouse.
WELL ALL THAT CHANGED YESTERDAY!
I was chatting to my son and he suddenly went quiet and asked me what the noise was from the bottom of the bed.'Oh that will be me mouse' says me,taking the mick out of myself.
'Wow Mum,are you sure,I mean that is loud I'm going to......oh my f..........its a mouse,a f....mouse!!!D-AAAAA-D Mums not nuts there is a mouse eating her Easter eggs' (yeah, never was too fond of too much chocolate,I was getting round to it....honest!)I had a flash of emotions go through my head, like ha I was right.....I so was not seeing things....hang on that means we do have mice.....oh no I hate mice.....how dare it,that was MINE,how did it get in,was it to get away from Mr DIY next door....etc etc.

Only now I know I don't just dislike having my personal little haven invaded,I am stupidly, outrageously scared of them/it.My scream went super-ultra sonic this morning when, seeming enjoying an audience after all this time it tried to make a break for the rest of the house and out from UNDER MY BED!!!!
I was shaking, nearly crying and NEVER going in that room again.

So,I have peppermint oil, vinegar and cotton wool dotted all over the place,a whole house magnetic/sonic deterrent, humane traps, poison, the promise of a bag of used kitty litter via daughters friend(now that must be on a media messaging site, one very nervous tummy and about a billion new grey hairs.

I thought I knew where it was getting in (I was wrong) I thought they where nocturnal ( wrong again with this one) I thought I checked everywhere yesterday (guess what???) ditto thought I had got rid of all chocolate (do you see the pattern?) And I thought I was a bit braver than this!!!

So any advice(apart from my own idea of me going to live in a hotel until I can live in a mouse free zone-that was not well received after my,ahem, squeak before (OK and another 10 every time something moved))because one sleepless night was bad enough,I'm now looking at no 2,and don't think 3 will be possible!

Wish I had been seeing things now :(

All of the above ASAP.

Anyone know of a cat I can pay in chocolate?

I think it must be pregnant though...that is the only explanation for the greedy thing wolfing down the chocolate and peanut butter the speed it did.How do they stay so slim ;)
As Sqad would say, "600 mg of Ibuprofen and monitor the situation".

Given the length of the OP and your obvious terror at such a tiny, tiny rodent it's clear that only a flame thrower will suffice.
Oh I don't know Chill....I think a handful of stun grenades would just about do the trick !!
O god and you havent even started on what sp+ders do to you
Chilldo - what about those jumping grenades that explode at chest height ?

only they would have to be adjusted for jumping to mousey chest height.....
Hypnotherapy ?
In a previous house I got someone to cone (may have been the council). He put cardboard little boxes of poison down) and put wire covers over outside bits where he thought they had come in. They all went quite quickly.
Got up one night and found one dead on landing. Woke husband cos rodent disposal is a man thing. Later opened bin under sink and there it was neatly on the top of the rubbish!!!
Traps are the answer (humane one would be my choice but I don't mind mice). I do sympathise because I'm the same with spiders, they reduce me to tears and I would not sleep in a room with one - others telling you how harmless they are just makes me angry.
Prudie recently a 10p piece size spider has been coming on my bed during the night. At first I thought it was a bit of my hair falling on back of my neck. When I felt it again put light on and found - aaaaaghhhh!
Another time recently I was playing around with ipod in the dark in bed when by the light of it I saw something dark and moving. Threw him out again!
I can understand your fear, my sister-in-law thought she was dreaming when she saw a mouse on the pillow next to the one she was sleeping on,and the next morning, she found droppings under her pillow and elsewhere in bedroom. Thankfully the council went in and sorted her out as she is quite poorly. Good luck with ridding yourself of "Mr mouse"
Oh God grasscarp, just read that, I would have truly died. After a few tongue lashings my OH now knows not to leave crunched up spiders in loo paper in the bin!
it's not the mice that bother me, it's the thought of rats living within six feet of me ...
my mums advice when i came to big hairy spiders, was to firstly talk to them, and i dont mean a full conversation. Just talk to them as if they were pets. this she reckoned took away the fear.
Piggynose, that's all very well but I dont want to share a bed with my pet spider.

Well thanks for your answers,I am glad to say the administration of an emergency 'knock you out' pill worked, and I have just woken from nearly 8 hours of dream free sleep!
Things have been very quiet, but I thought that yesterday,my trusty crutch ( as in walking aid) with a large cotton wool ball with peppermint oil tied to the end is by my side, since flame thrower was confiscated (what kids come up with nowadays with a bit of sticky backed plastic and a washing up bottle is very impressive!)

OK I admit I don't know if I can open the curtains.

That is where I thought they where coming in,and I blocked a hole up with vinegar soaked cotton wool, plastic bags,a washing up sponge (one with the green scourer on)some old but whole tiles, the ceramic type, carpet, more tiles and just for good measure 3 bricks. My daughter thought this was slight overkill, but I disagreed and put some peppermint soaked cotton wool there too,I had nothing else at the time.OH is going for more traps later,so 10 there and 10 in the airing cupboard should do something do you think?

Also I forgot to mention, the night before a had a big (no exaggeration 1o cm) spider crawl up and say hello ON MY BED,WITH ME IN IT!!!
This was only the night before so I was still in 'ogmygodeveryspiderintheworldiscomingtogetme' mode anyway.

Thank god for hard sole slippers.......sorry :(

OK I hear backup on the way (Yay...I was beginning to wake up proper and I don't want to open the curtains on me own)
I will catch up later.....if the power cables are still working ;)

Thanks for all your answers,I don't feel like I am so stupid now and you have cheered me up loads, thanks!
.....oh here goes see ya later!
love Aya B (....I want me Mummy..)
