Nope, caveat emptor dear boy, however HPI will tell you.
No!
It is the responsibilty of the buyer to check.
It only takes a 'phone call to the organisation who share insurance+police+DVLC records (HPI).
If no such check is made and the car has been stolen or officiallly
written-off the buyer loses the "car" and money.
It's disgraceful that an "official" car dealer can get away with this but that's today's "go for the money" morality.

Can you recomend any sites that is reliable that you can do a hpi check on ?
Sorry, forget number but check Autotrader, Parkers (in supermarket mags "browse") or just put HPI into your search engine.
Alternativley phone your insurer for what to do.

Methyl, just a tip, looking at a 2nd hand car, check the window rubbers for overspray, check the same under the wheel arches, check the under bonnet weld seams! do they seem right? check the boot interior, Weld / Water traces / the spare wheel well / the door / boot / bonnet lines, these are the things to look out for, to the ordinary public, this may seem ok, to a Mechanic, walk away please.

As you know Methyl, I wish people on here would take heed from the advice offered by a few that is knows a bit.
methyl, thats what I thought when I owned a Mk2 Mondeo some years ago ( under bonnet welds ) looked at a few to make sure it was how Ford sent them out of the factory !, looked like a bunch of 1st year apprentices had put them together imo.
