Missing Bookmarks In Firefox

Hi All
All of a sudden yesterday, most of my bookmarks disappeared from my browser - Firefox. I tried using the help page on Firefox but it tells me to click on a bookmarks button at the end of the navigation bar but it's not there. Any ideas anybody or any ideas how to restore them ?

Go to Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Imports and Backup > Restore. Then click on a recent date to restore your bookmarks list to the contents on that date.
