When my good lady Carakeel required an Ambulance a couple of weeks ago, 3 arrived.

when I have needed them at work it is more than often three that arrive.

Ok, I understand that the first one is usually a lone First Responder.

then we get a local ambulance to back up the first responder, then we get the ambulance to take the patient away.

Surely something can be done to cut down on all this. They do a marvellous job and I am knocking the crews but three vehicles for one emergency?

That should have read "I am NOT knocking the crews"
I think the ambulance service needs a serious overhaul. About 18 months ago I waited 11 hours for an ambulance to take a very sick lady to hospital. When we finally arrived at the hospital, the ambulance crew handed the patient over to the medical staff in A&E but still spent another hour there until the patient was in bed on the ward - and then they spent another half an hour talking to me! I asked them if they were finished for the night, but they said they still had loads of calls to attend - which meant people were waiting. If anyone can explain the system to me, I'd be grateful.
I agree it needs an overhaul- although the staff themselves are fantastic. Apparently (been told by several paramedics), their most common call is to pick elderly people up off the floor. I realise people need checking over for broken hips /TIAs etc, but i think we need to look at that, too.
