I have just watched an episode of The IT Crowd, that I had seen before, where the three main characters go to their boss's funeral. In my memory, it is Moss who says "sorry for your loss, and move on" to the widow after Jen tells him what to say and do. But I just saw Roy say that, while Moss says something completely different. Am I going mad? Is my memory faulty, or have they shown an alternative script for some reason?

I can't imagine they changed the script,Clover. People go mad & lose their memories all the time.
So I'd imagine that's more likely.
Love the IT Crowd. Its one of those shows I can watch over & over again.
Had I been asked I would have said it was Moss. Another example of my mind going I suppose.
Moss: I never know what to say to people at funerals.
Roy: Me too. I'm terrible.
Jen: Just say you're sorry and move on. [To Denholm's wife] He'll be in our prayers.
Roy: [to Denholm's wife] I'm sorry for your loss. Move on.

Moss: I'm sorry for your loss.
Mrs. Reynholm: Thank you.
Moss: It's not like you've lost a pen, is it? It's so much worse. Would you like a pen? I have a spare one.
Mrs. Reynholm: No thank you.
Moss: Please take it.
Mrs. Reynholm: Why are you giving it to me?
Moss: I don't know. [hands her the pen] Swings and roundabouts.
Yes now you show it that seems correct. Maybe it was that is seemed the Moss character would say that.

Ok. Thanks for the replies. I guess I misremembered. It does seem like more of a Moss thing to say. Roy is a bit more socially savvy.
