I love Countdown, it's now as good as when Richard and Carol were on. But, much as I like Rachael, I can't help noticing that when the contestants choose their letters she has her back to them and smiles at the camera. Could she not turn and face them? Did Carol do it like that? It seems a little rude not to be facing in their direction, surely she could use any hand to pick up the vowel and consenant cards?

Most viewers love the back view of Rachael!
Carol used to pick the letters facing front, looking at the camera. Perhaps it's not such a good camera angle if she's facing the contestants.
As good as when Richard and Carol were on?

Better I would have said - Richard was a wally.
(Rachel's more of a babe too)
The set looks the same layout as it was in Leeds and there Carol stood in the same position as Rachel does. I do wish they'd stop all this nonsense "Hope you feel better after a night's sleep", one week's worth is all filmed in 1 day, so Rachel must have felt pretty rough after this weeksworth.
What I don't understand is why the male contestants pick their letters so fast. Hardly gives Rach chance to turn around.
I love Countdown too. Took ages to get used to Nick though. Also depends who is in Dictionary Corner.
I think Dr. Phil Hammond is the best guest they have on in dictionary corner.
I wish he was my doctor. He's a real tonic.
I agree but whoever was on this wk is also great. Can't remember his name. As I've said before the only one I can't stand is Jo Brand.
I agree with you about Jo Brand. she behaves so childishly.
Rachel has got it going on, good looking, top body, she can choose my letters and numbers anytime

Hewer is an annoyingly condescending host though
I'm with you, cupid - Dr Phil is so funny. It was Martin Lewis this week, who talks a whole lot of sense. Well, he talks a lot, anyway! Took a while to get used to Nick Hewer, but he's improving. Jeff Stelling will always be the best though!
She totally spoils the prog and is so repetitive and boring. Can't think of anone else like that. The others usually have a lot to offer and are interesting.
We have a dead ringer for Nick Hewer in my local - he was in tonight, about the same age too.......

Havn't seen Countdown for a while but saw Suzie Dent on something else, her face looked strange somehow.

Has she lost weight (not that she needed to) or has she had 'work' done.
Yes, Rachel's not just a pretty face/shapely behind! Felt so sorry for her with the squeaky voice in today's programme. You'd think they'd have let her rest her voice, though I know it was the last one of the day to be recorded. I wish they would allow people to apply again as I'd love to have another go. (was on in Carole/ Richard's day)
Losgigs, how did you get on? I suppose it's easier watching at home!
Sadly I came a close second - it was a 'crucial conundrum' which I was dreading as I'm not great at them. The lady I lost to did go on to be an octochamp though, so didn't feel too bad about it. Better than losing to a young lad! Yes, it's a whole lot easier sitting at home in the comfort of your living room! A great experience though and received a huge goodie-bag with dictionary, mug, game, clock, etc.
