I watched this on Tuesday evening and as usual I was moved to tears by several stories. One story didn't make me cry though. It kind of made me a bit angry. There is a little boy called Jack Henderson who has raised thousands of pounds for charity with his fabulous website:
http://jackdrawsanything.com/

To cut a long story short, Jack drew a picture of Rolf Harris at the awards ceremony and the resulting artwork was auctioned off to the audience. Bearing in mind that this audience contained people such as Duncan Bannatyne, Robbie Williams, some of the Spice Girls, Gary Barlow, and other such overtly wealth people, the artwork was sold for a measly £15,000. It was purchased by some bloke from TOWIE.

Given the people in the room, their combined wealth must have run in to the tens if not hundreds of millions of pounds. Was I the only one shocked at how reticent the vastly wealthy were to part with their money for a charitable cause?

Oh birdie, how can you say that £15k is measly? I know not who the 'some bloke from TOWIE' is but I reckon that was a great bid.

Just because there probably was a huge combined wealth at the venue does not mean any of the 'celebs' is obliged to donate vast amounts to any charity. I should imagine that some of them have many requests to support various charities.

All charitable donations are gratefully received, no matter how large or small. Of course there is absolutely nothing to prevent any of us donating to Jack's charity, is there?

I hope young Jack continues to do well in his quest to support those who have helped his family. We should remember though that there are many charities in need of financial donations.

Do we know how much they've already denoted?
I agree with ttfn, any amount donated is huge to that particular charity, but I notice the government representatives didn't make any bids. I suppose their reason would be that they couldn't join in due to their positions.
not exactly small change.
