I know this should go in TV and Media section, but more ABers will see it in here. Did anyone see this TV programme last night? On at 10.35pm BBC1. Silly time to put it on as really elderly people would have been in bed. What a brilliant uplifting programme about several people who are really active but are well over 100. One lady is still a concert pianist at 108, an Indian man who still runs marathons, a lady of 104 who still goes on Peace rallies and addresses the crowds in London. One lady swims about 30 lengths of the pool. Gosh what an inspiration ............ it put me to shame, moaning about my aches and pains! Try to watch it on BBC I-Player if you missed it, its so good.

I will watch it, it clashed with something else. I really believe that keeping interested in life is key to long life (as long as one has reasonable health) - my mother was nearly 94 when she died, and she was interested in everything, right up to the end. Kept her mind alert with newspapers and crosswords, interested in all her family's doings.
Morning Ann,

Thanks for the tip....will try to catch up with it on BBC I-Player...but I feel exhausted just reading what those people did so maybe a diet is on the cards lol

( I do swim daily though, but tend to puff a lot afterwards )

Have a great day, Ann x
Oh Ann, I would love to live that long.....if I was fit (ish) and had all my marbles.

Forty more years......the fun to be had.

I know - its only as good as your health isn't it? But some elderly people could do more but think they are past it now they are "old". I know some like that, they seem to try to outdo others when relating about illnesses and medication :)
gness.

not at the moment i'm afraid.

My Great-Uncle was a real character, he didn't quite make 100 he was crippled since the War, but he never let his disability get him down. He still had an eye for the ladies, a good joke and a twinkle in his wrinkly old eyes - he was brilliant.
fond memories ann?
Sorry. Can you make it better?
There is a simple way to live beyond a hundred and, if you look at all the research, its the basis of all the other stuff....you have to choose the right parents.
thank you for your concern gness.
future is uncertain at the moment.
I watched it Ann and as always I was amazed at how some people can do what these people were doing at that age.
It has to come down to your health mainly and I thought the lady that went swimming everyday was fantastic.

I thought she was fantastic missprim - hope I can swim at 104 ....... can't yet! LOL :)
I watched it Ann - very uplifting - though at the end after the credits it paid tribute to two of them that had passed away.

The lady that went swimming everyday was brilliant - I get puffed out just putting my swimming cossie on.

Well worth a watch.
Question Author
Yes I saw the tribute at the end, think the programme was made last year.
