I'm sitting here watching 'Big Brother's most outrageous moments', thinking god this is pants, yet strangely addictive - I'm seeing the summer stretching ahead of me - I'll try not to watch it, but at some point I'll break and watch one episode then I'll be hooked.  Does anyone else feel the same (I have done every year since the first one) - and any tips for strengthening my will power and steering clear?  It is just EVERYWHERE and this year it's going on for 3 and a half months!  ARGH!

If I hear that advert for that @?**!& frog one more time to-night I'll kick in the tv, so I'll not have one to watch BB.......
I'm exactly the same! It's really annoying, because I end up defeting myself! I prefered the 2nd one to any of them. It was brilliant. Brian made me laugh so much!

Does any one know what year it first started?
I find going out and seeing friends helps get me away from the TV. I must say though, I got sucked into Hell's Kitchen. It's too easy isn't it?

It started in 2000.I wouldn't miss it for the world I can't wait. No not sad at all. No really...............
make sure you don't see the first show when they enter the house, it is always easier to get hooked if you see the first one, I wasted so much time watching it in 2003 that the last time around I said that I wasn't going to watch it and I didn't see one single episode. I was very proud of that even though everyone was telling me that 2004 was the best ever. It can be done! Now I just need to be equally strong this year as I am not working now so I could in theory spend hours glued to the set. Good luck !
I disagree - not watching the first one does not work. I will be at work tomorrow night during the time that the BB housemates will be entering the house, just as I was last year and last year it didn't make the slightest bit of difference and I doubt it will this year either....

.... you might as well give in to yourself..... you're gonna get hooked no matter what.....

i understand your pain.

having just seen some of the first episode, i have left the room, in anguish.

originally i think it was made interesting and bearable by relatively ordinary people interacting in a very unusual situation, and i had a bit of time for the first series, and have avoided it since.

from what i see tonight, it has become a grotesque spectacle of the most shallow and "eccentric" money hunters deparate to cash in on their obscene personae; in short, a bunch of @rseholes interacting in the least natural way they can in what has now become a very ordinary and predictably trite environment. the upside of it is of course that it edges ever closer to the nightmare visions of the future that people like orwell/huxley etc actually had, when the public at large is sucked into becoming obsessed with hideous exhibition of the worst aspects of the human condition...

The only way to cope with it is to decide right from the start whether or not you are going to watch it.  Then you will not feel guilty when (not if!!) you get sucked in to watching it.  You are simply allowing yourself to be out and proud about being a BB voyeur.  Blessed relief!!
