I love getting into a gripping series. Most of the things I watch these days are total and utter rubbish. Anyone got anything to recommend? I love crime things but I'm open to watching anything as long as its good :-)

xoxo.

I've enjoyed watching Scott & Bailey and New Tricks, but nothing comes close to my box sets of Minder and Yes Minister / Yes Prime Minister.
Question Author
Damn I meant to watch Scott & Bailey hasn't the new series of it just started? Yes Minister is great! I agree with you there Spikey!
Not on TV anymore but if you like a crime series you can't beat The Wire ,Homicide Life on the Streets or Law & Order and it's spin offs .
Nordic crime good too.The Killing and there's one on that the moment The Bridge. The Wallander series was good too ( Swedish version )
On TV there's Scott and Bailey ,The Syndicate and a new series of Silk coming up .Plus Vera on Sunday nights .
Docu wise there's Divine Women and Meet the Romans ..both very interesting .
I bought the Thorn Birds from Amazon. Brilliant series.

Also bought from Amazon. When the boat comes in. Don't remember what it cost, but worth every penny.
You're a bit late for the new series of Scott & Bailey. It is a cracker. They should all be on itvplayer.
Hard to choose, there are so many different types, I loved The West Wing and I'm not looking forward to House finishing. The current fad for Scandanavian cop shows is great, as is Montelbano, can't eat a meal and half watch though! I've got The Bridge to watch.
Oooh I loved The Thorn Birds .Was that whatshisname who played Dr Kildare micmak ? >>> Rushes off to Amazon ......
Richard Chamberlain

I've heard of the bridge, it sounds interesting. Montalbano was just fantastic I loved it! Vera looks very interesting too and I used to really be into House.

I could never get into Wallander...just too cold all the time! So dark!
Yes ..that's him .Thanks zebo :)
Scott & Bailey for me too. & from the past 'The House of Elliot' and
'Darling Buds of May' 'Cagney & Lacey' & 'The Good Life'

jem
The original black/white "The Forsyte Saga" was brilliant. Still got the full set on Video but no player to watch it on!
Question Author
May try and series record scott & bailey if its still up. Sounds like its getting a good response from you guys on here. You just can't beat the good life jem!!
I watch my Poldark DVD's quite a bit .Also, I Claudius and Brideshead Revisited .
Oldies but goodies .
Indeed Jemisa. The write-up in the paper called Scott & Bailey the "UK's Cagney and Lacey" which prompted me to watch it. I wasn't sorry.
I absolutely loved Roots, wish they would repeat it on mainstream TV as I never seem to spot it when its on sky channels. Also loved Poldark - have this on video. The Thornbirds was great too.
Question Author
Ann: I've just googled Roots, is it the tribal-esque looking series wiki says it is??
I loved The Equalizer, Highway to heaven, Kojak [who loves you baby],
St Elsewhere, Crown court, Dynasty, Country practice, Flying doctors, Drop
the dead donkey, Perry Mason, 55 degrees north,Have I got news for you[when Angus Daeyton was still in it], The book of Daniel [short lived us series
but very funny. Nothing much decent on tv in my opinion any more, cant
stand reality shows or diy, cookery and gambling for insomniacs.
Question Author
I watched an episode of I Claudius once I think. Cheeky!
Question Author
Actually, after googling I Claudius I think I have it mixed up with something else!
But thanks for the responses everyone. Came up with some really good ones!
