I am no film buff and I don't particularly like Star Wars...... but my son has never seen any of them and he really likes Clone Wars. We have these family nights where we watch films and it's the Star Wars Saga this time!

So, my question is.... in what order do we watch Star Wars(I don't mean what order are they as I know that) but..... Do we watch them as they were originally aired (just like when we were young) or in the order of the story.

It might be obvious to others but I'm not sure, were we meant to watch them in the wrong order etc...

Opinions appreciated, thank you :0)

this is the best one :)

In the order they were made.

Every child that has ever watched them has watched them in that order. The fact that the episodes are not in order does not matter.

If I were you though, I'd get him on the even numbered Star Trek films. (Odd numbered ones are not as good).

Believe you me RATTERS, I would prefer to watch this one, but majority rules and I have to sit through them! But thank you, very good!
now there's a newer 3, you'd have to watch them in order especially as the newer 3 are prequels to the originals- surely?

Thank you Gromit, although Start Trek will be a step too far for me........ I will have lost the will to live by then!
You have kind of answered your own question, surely it is up to you as you have two choices. Either episodes 4, 5 and 6, then 1, 2 and 3, or episodes 1 through to 6.
Strictly speaking, it shouldn't matter, but there are some plot points imparted to the audience for the first time during the original films (episodes 4 - 6) that would be clear to an audience watching the films in order (1 - 6).

But I still don't know what to do. It's possibly because I don't like them; I'm only humouring my son and husband. If you had the time again and never watched any of them. What order would you go for?

456123 or 123456 It's very difficult to decide :0)
If I were you I would watch 4-5-6 and never go near the other 3.

As for Star Trek the only half decent film was First Contact and maybe the Wrath of Khan.

Davethe dog, it's funny you say that as I've just read an interesting blog about the methods of watching it which include 5 different ways (who knew) but the blogger actually says that only watching the three original is the best option. Unfortunately I'll have to sit through all 6!
In TV sit coms they have a thing called " the jump the shark" moment, taken from a Happy Days episode when a show go's from OK to beyond the pale.

I always think that moment comes in a lot of US sitcoms, when they introduce a small child after a few series.

The small Anakien was Star Wars "Jump the shark"

I think I might go for 456123, just because my son will probably be a little disappointed in the drop in cinematography quality and set design! Also Lucas wanted us to see them in this order, so that's probably what should happen!

Cheers :0)
Have to agree with Dave, stick to Episodes 4,5 & 6, forget about the other 3, there not the films you are looking for!
456123!

"now there's a newer 3, you'd have to watch them in order especially as the newer 3 are prequels to the originals- surely?"

Otherwise you already know who the father is!
1-6
where was I when the sixth was made? I always thought (obviously wrongly) it was 3 4 5 then 1 and 2
There are 7, Aren't there?
I personally would watch them in correct numerical order rather than the original way because my little brain can't process why you would start watching at 3 and not 1.... I suspect the die hards would disagree with my thought process though :c)
First was Episode 4 A New Hope (called Star Wars by a lot of people) Then 5 The Empire Strikes Back 6 The Return of the Jedi. then a long gap to

1 The Phantom Menace, 2 Attack of the Clones 3 The Revenge of the Sith
Chuch 7 if you take the cinema release of the Clone Wars
