Those Q Ash Trays

I was just looking at the parrot thread, and thinking how few people have parrots nowadays.

And then I thought ... Quaglino's ashtrays!

Everyone used to have a "Q" ashtray at home (nicked from Quaglino's), but now there's no smoking in restaurants, can you even get one???

When you ate at Quaglino's, you used to put them in your bag. When I got mine, about three of us "bagged" them, and then they appeared on the bottom of the bill. Fairy nuff, I suppose.

Has anyone else got one?

Why do people do this then JJ? When I had a chauffeur company I was amazed at the number of ashtrays that disappeared from the rear doors of the cars. They cost £50 each at the time. I could fit two new ones - only to find them gone a few days later! The taxman paid for them at the end of the day but I always wondered why people take ashtrays.

I smoked for over 30 years until I stopped nine years ago. I quite understand why people would take these Quaglino's ashtrays, although I must say it's the first time I've seen them (I've never drank alcohol so maybe that's why).

It did puzzle me why people took the car ashtrays though. I must have lost dozens. They were probably thrown away afterwards!

No, I've never been to Quaglino's. Pub ashtrays used to be our target - the bigger the better.

But apparently there are no feathers, nor any sign of a struggle, or anything.

All a bit of a mystery.

Mums went out and bought another chicken this morning, so the remaining one wouldn't get lonely. I haven't seen the new one yet.
