Seems if you don't like soaps, (never watch them) reality TV, (ditto) cookery shows, Crime/Govt. Agency/police shows , medical dramas, or Quizzes, there's nothing to watch on TV! Trawling through the cable channels last night, even the old comedy shows are on a loop, and the channels that show old stuff, well, why can't they show 'new' old stuff? - Series like Soldier, Soldier, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Secret Army,

Makes it look like I've got a thing for soldiers - I haven't - these were just good shows! And a decent variety show - remember when singers had their own shows, Cilla (didn't like her as a singer, but she had some god guests on!) - bit of chat, a song or two a special guest and a sketch
What show (s) would you like to see back?

i loved Soldier Soldier, ive got them all in a DVD box set. mmmmmmmm Robson green!
mercia I agree with you, tele is terrible now, Saturday nights being the worst
I like decent dramas, things taken from literature etc, things like 'I Claudius', ' Edge of Darkness' was good and in terms of comedies I liked random things like ' A most peculair Practice' if you can call that a comedy, oh and WKRP Cincinnatti:)

I agree with what you say! I loved I Claudius (AKA One Clavdivs!) and Edge of darkness - and also WKRP in cincinatti too - I also loved Hill Street blues, and NYPD blue cop shows i know, but th americans seemed to do it so much better then!

Old Spike was a genius!
Interestingly redcrx, I have recently managed to realign my screen relationship with Mr Green.

For utterly incomprehensible reasons, I took totally against Mr Green, seeing him as an egotistical individual with little acting ability. This hostility cannot even be based on firm evidence - having never watched Soldier Soldier, and being indifferent to his apearences in Casualty.

It affected me so much that I felt unable to watch any of the Wire in The Blood episodes, and I even found his 'presence' coloured my enjoyment of the Tony Hill novels, to the point where i was unable to read them without visuallising him.

As inexplicably as this rancour arrived, it departed again, and I have watched and thoroughly enjoyed RG in WITB - found his acting excellent (including a superb hairpiece!) and have read and enjoyed all the novels.

I found my occasional brief viewings of his Extreme Fishing shows to be devoid of any ego, instead full of boysih enthusiasm (and no hairpiece!) which communicated itself well to a non-angler like myself.

So, now that Mr Green is unknowingly admitted to my list of actors to be admired - I wonder if I should attempt to cash in on this new-found tolerance, and attempt a second viewing of Four Weddings And A Funeral?
On second thoughts, let's not push it!!!!!!!!!!!!
noooo, not FWAAF! dont risk it!

i cant stand RG in his fishing programmes, but was strangely attracted to him again in WITB lol
Why don't you have a look online to see how much your favourite ones are to buy, then you can watch them whenever you like when there is nothing to watch.
Id like to see Deadwood back and allowed to actually finish, i want and need to know what happens, its the best show ive ever seen.

Also i loved North Square another brilliant series on CH4 that only ran for only one season. Peter Moffat wrote it and has now gone on to write Silk which is pretty much an identical format but just not quite as good, there is no Phil Davis in SIlk!

Ive also just heard that Whites wont be getting a second season which is a shame as i thought it was really rather good and a little different. The same BBC lady that put a stop to that did however give the green light for a second series of Episodes, i cant understand that choice!
Which channel is Soldier Soldier on? I wouldn't mind seeing them again. Had them on video years ago but gave them to a charity shop. I intend to buy the DVD box set at some point.
Ultraviolet - the lates 90s vampire drama with jack davenport was great too.

oh and talking of jack, I would love to see reruns of Coupling
Wouldn't mind if they repeated This Life either.
Pardon me for saying this, but why don't people who say that there's nothing on TV that's worth watching just get rid of the TV set? That would save them spending the licence money.
The test card was great
I'd like to see some comedy as good as Green Wing back on. Apparently there is something coming up "from the creators" but it doesn't look like it will do it for me.
I know what you mean, weecalf: not much action, no story line, but at least no swearing and no violence.
Good call Red - Coupling was a great show and never got the recognition it deserved.

Another good BBC comedy that recently got the elbow was Pulling.

Utraviolet was on, on the Syfy channel I liked that. I've got This life boxed set, and Soldier soldier isn't on, that's my point, it's good, why not repeat it!!
