My son has just bought world of warcraft (WOW). It is driving me mad. When he got it we loaded all the disk on to his releatively new PC. That all went well, until we had to download a patch that was stuck behind a firewall.Eventually got the firewall out the way but the download still takes between 7 and 9 hours. Why does it have all these patches? We have had to download about 5 of them now each taking several hours. It seems he spends more time awaiting patches to download than acctually playing it. Any ideas please????

Lol, hiya, frustrating isn't it?

If it's any consolation, this particular patch was unusually longer than normal. They are only usually about 10 mins max and happen every few weeks.

Because the game is an online one, they have to keep updating it and ironing out bugs.

Believe me, the game's worth it, your son will love it.

Thanks Boo, was hoping this would be the case, and yes he does love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!baffles me though.. Thanks
Oooo no mr.Foz, have a play, you'll be hooked!

If you want someone to show you around I'll be more than happy to. I'm on alliance, Lightbringer server and my name is Pilly on it, I'm a level 53 warrior.
well worth the wait. i recently got a new hard drive, re-installed the game and must have been somewhere near finishing patching when i had the great idea of joining my old hard drive to the new hard drive and copying the files. To do this i had to delete and the stuff i had just re-installed but didn't mind as i was so sure it would all work .. it didn't. don't know why but it all went wrong so i had to start from scratch again and wait close to 2 days from start to finish. Have a go, it's great, i'm 29, my partners 38 and my son's 8 and we've all got characters. It gets that bad sometimes i've thought about getting a second pc to stop the arguments ! have fun

lol @triggerhappy!

My Mum innocently brought my Dad WoW. I told her its nickname is World of Warcrack as its so addictive she laughed this off...

2 weeks later she was looking for a Warcrack Widows support group!
Tell ya mum to do what I did- buy herself a copy, level up then kick her husbands backside in game, it's really therapeutic!
The thing is though Boo, you dont restrict it to your husband. You kick everyone's ass or at least bend their ear a little!

But to answer Mr Foz, the game is most certainly worth it. The original cost, the time taken downloading the updates, the many, many hours playing it. Especially if you get in with a good group of people, it can be immense fun. The only problem is.........can you stop?

Good luck.
Warcraft is awesome, I love it.
