Huh,welcome to 21st century Britain,Dermot.Even if they get the culprit they wont make them give your belongings back, they wont charge them and if your lucky the police wont charge you for wasting police time. You will however get a piece of worthless paper to fill in and a crime number.Sorted.
That might be your experience, ynna, it wasn't mine. The police and courts were fantastic.
No preferential treatment? So where'd he get the pic from? Pretty sure I wouldn't be allowed to take a screenshot from CCTV if any of my gear went walkies.
@16.53.Were you the culprit or the victim,Barry?

Glad to hear that Barry.
Isn't he the manager of Leeds United?
It's a clear enough image, someone will know the person.

Good luck Dermot.
He's on Radio 2 at 8am on Saturday mornings.
@16.53.That was the same thing that the lady who swindled £100,000 out of of our benefits system said also. She was very approving of our courts etc.
KEN, the image was posted on Twitter by the Met Police so I doubt they have an issue with the victim using it.

I don't see how Dermot's case has anything to do with your 17.13 post ynna. Dermot is not a criminal.
That's a very clear picture. Someone will recognise him, surely.
Front page news on the website of our national broadcaster might be construed as preferential, unless of course the BBC has started reporting all bag-related crime at the top of the news in which case I withdraw the comment.
Name and shame the contemptuous thief. Oh, what about data protection? Human rights? We do tie ourselves up in knots don’t we.....
yep another sad indictment if LibFac Britain.
"What about data protection". There is no data involved in showing someone's face. Data protection laws govern how a company uses customer data which can identify a living person. For example, name, address, DOB etc.
Is he sure that the rucksack the guy's carrying is really his ?
Meanwhile the contents will probably be sold or dumped by now.
po' derm
the gold will have been melted down pronto
mine had gone thro five hands over a week end

police uninterested and not insured ( in someone else's house)
I'm sure those cynical, anti police types posting here, I wonder how their messages may have differed had the alleged thief had been wearing a burka?

The best of luck in retrieving your property Mr O'Leary.
SJ is wrong should anyone read it
Data protection IS concerned with CCTV and is not engaged here ( different rules - crime)
