Yes he can. Assuming that you are UK based and not living in a country where there are forced heirship rules. In the UK we have testamentary freedom thus the testator is entitled to leave his assets to whomsoever he wishes.

The son may be able to make a claim under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, but would need legal advice on that.
