I bought a pair of boots over the internet in june for my daughter using my debit card. When they arrived at the end of July they were too small so i sent them back, since then i have been waiting for the replacement pair. I sent over 20 emails, made phone calls, even wrote to the company's founder but heard nothing until today when after threatening to go to trading standards i received an e-mails bluntly stating "1st4buyers is no longer trading" Do I have any consumers rights with regards to getting the 65.50 back as i used my debit card. What, if any action can I take?

No action can be taken I'm afraid.
Paying by credit card would give protection if thepurchace was over 100.
Paying by debit card gives no protection at all. If the company went into liquidation owing you money you could put in a claim but it is very unlikely their assets would be sufficient to cover your loss.

Write it off as a bad experience.
Contact your card company - Visa debit cards do offer a form of protection, so it's worth trying.

So if your debit card has 'Visa' on it, the card company must comply with the Visa regulations.

You'll definitely get nothing if you don't contact them - you may get your money if you do, under Visa Debit Chargeback

"Paying by debit card gives no protection at all" is a statement frequently trotted out and may be just as frequently incorrect...

It may be the case that your situation falls outside the scope of protection (your bank will be the ones to tell you if this is true or not) but there is little point saying that credit card protection is better when the situation falls outside of the scope of that protection also.
I found this myspace site...
