What is the easiest and cheapest way of divorcing my wife?
We have been separated for 10 years and have not made contact since the day we split. No children. We sold the house and all our possesions and split the proceeds 50-50.
I have no idea where she lives or even if she is still alive.

After 5 years separation you can divorce without the consent of the other party. You can get the forms from the local County Court & do it yourself, just paying the Court fee.

However, as you do not know her whereabouts there may be a problem as it is normally a requirement that the papers are served on the other party. Ask the Court officials for advice about this.
You have to be able to prove to the court that you have taken reasonable steps to locate her. Mr Bagpuss and I had the same problem when he came to divorce his first wife. It was recommended that we had legal advice as it is up to the court whether they will grant it (they dont have to!).
