Help! Static in clothes

I've just bought a dress for a party at the weekend and its full of static. Any ideas how I can get rid of this without washing it?

Lightly spray hairspray on the underside of the dress and away you go. No more static.

Putting body lotion (moisteriser ) on you is supposed to work as well , try both suggestions , hope 1 works for you !

I have heard that pinning a small safety pin in the seam gets rid of static. I've never tried it myself though.
