Hi Graeme, Firstly Im so very sorry to hear you have been made redundant, its such a blow to your self esteem, this has happened to me last November, so I really do sympathise with you! There is hope out there and at least you have your training under your belt so its not all doom and gloom, just dont sit on your bum and dwell on it, get out there and get more work, you can do it - as far as your pay is concerend, i think you are entitled to a weeks wages for every year you worked...check what outstanding holidays you have too, and it may be worth checking out your rights on the ACAS website. Good luck! RQ xx
I am not 100% sure, but think the legal minimum is 1 weeks wages for each year of employment, but only for anything over 2 years and up to a maximum of 20 years. So basically, I think you would get 3 weeks wages, plus whatever your lou of notice is, and also any owing Holidays. Probably amounts to not much for 5 years work.
The above info is not right. Here's a ready-reckoner for you to work it out. The weekly amount is capped at 330 per week - if you earn more than that.
