Entirely depends on when you started working for them
Most contracts of employment allow for payment in lieu of working your notice period at the discretion of the employer. If that is what you are asking here.
The minimum (statutory) notice period is one week if you have been there less than 2 years, 2 weeks after 2 years, then 1 additional week of service per complete year up to a maximum of 12 weeks (after 12 yrs service).
These are the minimums - your specific contract of employment may allow for more notice than this.
The employer may ask you to work the notice period - there is legal obligation to pay you money in lieu.
However dismissal on a first occasion of warning for this would seem really harsh (and hence prossibly unfair) - have you previously been subject to disciplinary hearings regarding your attendance?
