Changing guardian in a will

Unfortuantely, due to a big falling out between my wife and her sister, we want to change the nominated guardian for our daughter should something happen to both of us. We've waited a while to make sure we were acting in the heat of the moment but we are sure.

Will we need to get the Will re-written or can it be altered? If it can be altered, would it be better (and I appreciate the answer may be subjective) to change it altogether anyway to avoid unpleasantness should the Will be shown to people?

The will cannot be altered.

You can write a codicil - a sort of PS to it, or you can replace it with a new will. The latter is probably better - not only for the reason you mention, but because a codicil could go missing without anyone realising (after your death) that it existed.
