First things first.

Have you got a cd writer? Can your cd player actually burn to blank cds?

Look at the drawer of the cd drive - it should have a cdr or cdrw symbol.

And go to Start - My Computer

Under Devices with Removable Storage will be your cd and / or dvd drive.

Mine says DVDRW drive. It is a dvd re-writer and will burn to dvd.

Now click on the 'system information' in the left hand panel. Click the hardware tab. Now you can find all the information you need about your pc by clicking 'device manager'.

no it doesnt say anything about cd or dvd drives. This is all far to complex for my liking, Im going to get a friend round to sort it all out I think.
Thanks for your help though!
