Loan. below got me thinking

how can you prove a sum of money is a loan? I'm contemplating loaning my boyf money, and as much as I dont want to think about things going wrong, it would be daft not to protect mysefl wouldnt it?

You have to get the terms in writing and get the borrower to sign, then you have to acknowledge any repayements in some form of statement. You should be able to produce these records on request if it becomes a dispute.
Love and business can be a bad mixture! Definitely get something in writing acknowleging the loan - and if possible the arrangements to repay it. Explain to the boyfriend that it will cover both of you. Otherwise , in the worst scene scenario, you will find that he could deny the loan or claim that it was a gift and you would have difficulty in proving otherwise. Best scene scenario - he repays the money and you ceremoniously burn the document, with a bottle of wine on the side.
